3D Lightning McQueen Mini Cake

A couple of weeks ago, I made a 3D Lightning McQueen mini cake.  This cake probably served about 8-12.  It was my first 3D car, and I was fairly happy with the result.  Because of the small scale, I omitted some of the detailing, but ensured the obvious McQueen characteristics were present.

Mini cakes are always a challenge.  Scaling down the size of something without losing the shape, proportions and details is not always easy.

Lightning McQueen is 100% cake, hand carved/sculpted and covered in fondant.  Hope the birthday boy loved it.  There were 40 cupcakes with toppers included with this cutting cake, as well as Cars themed coordinating cookie favors.
